How to prepare for your Appointment
The journey to finding your wedding gown is one of the most intimate and emotional milestones of your wedding story. At Dion, we believe this experience should feel nothing less than extraordinary, a moment where elegance, emotion, and personal style come together in harmony.
Booking your appointment with us is the first step, and as the anticipation builds, we invite you to imagine the experience: gowns that embody timeless craftsmanship, consultants who understand the poetry of personal style, and an atmosphere designed to make you feel celebrated.
To ensure your time with us is effortless and unforgettable, here is our curated guide to preparing for your appointment.
Your Inspiration
Every gown tells a story, and your story begins with vision. Whether it’s the romantic sweep of silk, the architectural precision of a modern silhouette, or the delicate shimmer of embellishment, consider how you want to look and feel as you walk down the aisle.
“Every gown tells a story. At Dion, we help you discover the one that feels like yours.”
Gather imagery from Pinterest, Instagram, or even details from our own designer collections. But do not worry if your vision feels unfinished, our stylists are experts at translating scattered ideas into a cohesive expression of who you are. Often, the gown that takes your breath away is the one you never expected.
Defining Your Ideal Spend
A wedding gown is an investment in both craftsmanship and memory. Arriving with an ideal spend in mind will allow us to thoughtfully curate gowns that reflect not only your style but also your comfort. Remember to account for alterations and accessories, as they play an essential role in completing your bridal look.
“The right gown is where craftsmanship meets destiny.”
Transparency about your budget with your consultant ensures the journey remains seamless, joyful and worthwhile.
Dion have gowns starting from $2000 to over $20,000. For budgets under $2000 our stylists will be able to show you a curated selection of gowns from our sale collection.
Foundations of Confidence: What Undergarments to Wear
The right foundations can elevate the experience. While many of our gowns are designed with built-in structure, we recommend nude, seamless undergarments for ease and versatility. A strapless bra or shape wear may be helpful, though often unnecessary. Bring what feels most natural to you, and allow your stylist to guide you.
“Luxury is found not in extravagance, but in the quiet confidence of feeling truly yourself.”
Comfort, after all, is the truest luxury.
A Subtle Frame: Hair and Presentation
Something as simple as a clip or tie can lift your hair to reveal a gown’s neckline and enhance your reflection in the mirror. Some brides choose to softly style their hair in a way that reflects their wedding, adding another layer of imagination to the experience.
“This is more than a fitting. It is the beginning of your bridal story.”
As a courtesy, we ask that brides avoid fresh spray tans prior to their appointment, ensuring each gown remains pristine for the next client's story.
Stepping Into the Moment: Shoes
While much of your appointment is best enjoyed barefoot (or in socks for comfort if you prefer), bringing a pair of heels is truly not necessary but optional if you would like to.
We provide platforms for you to step onto to help give you a clearer sense of length and proportions. This subtle detail helps you experience each gown as it will truly be worn-balanced, graceful, and complete.
The Circle of Support
A wedding gown appointment is deeply personal. To preserve the intimacy of the moment, we recommend bringing only a select few loved ones whose presence uplifts and supports you. We would recommend 2-3 people but no more than 5 people. Their role is to celebrate your vision, not overshadow it.
“A circle of love, a moment of stillness, and a gown that takes your breath away-that is the Dion for Brides experience.”
For those you wish to involve more people we can certainly accomodate 5-6 people at a squeeze, but we recommend you consider other beautiful opportunities such as veil and accessory styling, multiple fittings, or final reveals. Mixing up opportunities to celebrate with the people you want to at various stages allow them to share in your journey without overwhelming you in any appointment and also allows you multiple opportunities to share your gown for the first time across many moments.
The Gift of an Open Mind
Perhaps the most essential thing to bring is openness. While you may arrive with a vision, allow yourself to be surprised. Many brides discover their gown in a silhouette they had never considered, and it is often this unexpected moment that makes the decision all the more magical.
“A wedding gown is not chosen-it chooses you.”
Trust your instincts. A wedding gown is a reflection of emotion as much as it is of style.
Trust our stylists. With decades of combined experience, our caring stylists are genuinely trying to help you find something you love. Be patient with the process and trust their guidance.
A Note on Photography
To preserve the intimacy of your bridal appointment and protect the artistry of our gowns and designs, photography is not permitted of you in the gowns you try during your time in the boutique. This is a considered part of the Dion experience, allowing you to be fully present, free from distractions, and to appreciate each gown as it is meant to be experienced.
While photographs taken by your guests may seem helpful when making your decision, our experience has shown that they can sometimes create confusion, encourage second-guessing, and make it harder to trust how you truly felt in a gown. Much like a beautiful sunset (an unless you are professional photographer), a photograph often never fully captures the true beauty of that moment or shows it for what you really saw.
If you must see a photograph, and our stylists are more than happy to take photographs on our in-store iPads for you to view during your appointment.
We kindly ask that you respect this policy and ensure your guests are aware of it before arriving. We appreciate that everyone may have different preferences, however, this remains our policy.
When you find the one, we want you to feel confident and excited to share your decision with your loved ones. Once your gown has been chosen, you are welcome to take photographs to celebrate and share this special moment.
Thank you for helping us create the considered, personal and memorable bridal experience we want every bride to enjoy.
What to Expect at Your Appointment - The Dion Experience
At Dion, every appointment begins with intention. After a pre-appointment call and a personal conversation in the boutique, you will be given some time to browse the collection and your stylist will work with you to thoughtfully curate an initial selection of gowns (3-5 gowns) to reflect your vision. From there, the experience unfolds naturally, you are never limited to a set number of dresses. Within your 90-minute consultation, you are welcome to explore as many gowns as needed until you discover the one that feels like destiny.
Our collection spans a wide range of sizes, and each gown is expertly clipped or adjusted to help you see the true silhouette and fit. Whether it’s the very first gown you try or the tenth, your stylist will guide the flow, refine your vision, and celebrate each step with you. And if more time is needed, a second appointment can always be arranged.
We ask that you remain mindful of the time allocated to your appointment, 90 minutes for a standard consultation, so that we can honour the same level of dedication for every bride who visits. Trust your stylist to guide the flow; they are there to ensure your time is maximised, your vision refined, and your experience deeply personal.
“Your gown should be a reflection of your spirit, your love, and the most radiant version of yourself.”
Because at Dion, your gown is not simply a dress, it is the reflection of your love story, your spirit, and the most radiant version of yourself. It is our privilege to help you uncover it.
